In the first level of the game you can find Childs's dead body in a destroyed house, it seems he died due to low temperatures, maybe MacReady at the end of the game could be infected and that would connect the story with The thing 2 game. MacReady and Childs are the 2 only survivors after blowing up the U.S installations and killing everyone because of the infection spread, how ever the movie ends and is unknown who is infected whether MacReady or Childs. Macready was the protagonist of The thing 1982 movie, at the end of the movie R.J.
